Sand Blasted Glass
Sandblasting is the precision method of propelling very fine sand particles at high velocity on to the glass surface. This can be used for a everything from a total frosted look to simple boarders, fine text, company logos, floral or abstract designs and essentially, anything the customer may be able to imagine from traditional pieces to more edgy, contemporary designs. Sandblasting is a hugely versatile and effective form of glass decoration.
Glass Table Top
Glass tabletops are used in a number of different ways, but the most popular is to use the glass to protect the surface of a table, desk, or a coffee table. When used as a cover on a wood surface, normally a thinner glass such as 1/4″ is used. The edges of the glass would normally be polished to smooth them out and avoid the possibility of injury from the sharp edges. When glass is used as a wood surface cover there is no need for tempering the glass.
Clear glass
Clear glass differs from other types of glass by its basic raw material composition. In particular, this glass is made with a very low iron content in order to minimize its sun reflection properties. It therefore lets as much light as possible through the glass. It is most particularly of use for solar energy applications where it is important that the glass cover lets light through to reach the thermal tubes or photo-voltaic cells.
Anti-reflective properties can be further increased by applying a special coating on the low-iron glass. It can also be used in windows or facades as it offers excellent clarity, which allows occupants to appreciate true colours and to enjoy unimpaired views.
Laminated Glass
From entrance doors and glass floors, to aquariums and display cases, laminated glass is the perfect safety solution. Two or more panes of glass are bonded together by a durable plastic interlayer, which enables the glass to strongly resist penetration by impacting objects. However, if it should break, the glass will tend to remain in its frame, minimizing the risk of injury from sharp edges and flying or falling glass particles.
Tempered Glass
Tempered glass is used in applications where standard glass could pose a potential danger, because it is four to five times stronger than standard glass and does not shatter into large shards when broken. Manufactured through a process of extreme heating and rapid cooling, tempered glass is significantly harder than normal glass.
The brittle nature of tempered glass causes it to shatter into small oval-shaped pebbles when broken. This eliminates the danger of sharp edges. Due to this property — along with its strength — tempered glass is often referred to as ‘safety glass.’
The thermal process that cures tempered glass also makes it heat-resistant. Tempered glass can be used in any situation where there is a danger of the glass breaking due to impact or extreme heat.
